hey is tribe going to die?
Is it already dead?
What is the point of this tribe when no body talks about anything?
Do you even care?
Is anyone out there?
Should we cancel this tribe?

Re: tribe?
Wed, November 14, 2007 - 12:04 PMI'm really starting to get over the whole online community thing. I've definately been contemplating getting rid of my myspace profile, we all put so much information out there for everyone and their mother to see and there is no such thing as privacy now what with the gov checking everyones emails and such.
When people post regular thought provoking questions nobody gives their input....including me most times, I'm fairly private for the most part and telling all of tribe whats on my mind isn't high on my to do list. And I think people are getting pissed off with tribe not working so much lately, its annoying.
What would we do without it? Maybe pick up a phone to call your friends and actually have a conversation without the use of a keyboard and mouse! Arrange time to hang out in a non party/event atmosphere....people had community before tribe, you just had to make an effort at it.
Thats just my .02 cents.
Love ya Gina -

Re: tribe?
Wed, November 14, 2007 - 12:32 PMI think much of the inactivity on Tribe has much to do with its unreliability. And the rumors that it's going down the tubes. I would be quite sad to see it go, as it is the only truly community-minded social network I've spent any time on.
That being said, there was community before the computer ever existed. It just takes a little more time and effort to maintain in the flesh. -

Re: tribe?
Wed, November 14, 2007 - 1:37 PMI hope they archive all the blogs and threads if they go down… that way in 1000000 years folks can see how cool and hip you all are.
But seriously, I doubt it will ever totally die. I will continue to inhabit tribe as a lone citizen in an abandoned city if need be. The stability issue doesn’t bug me because when it is down I figure that means I should be doing something else!

Re: tribe?
Wed, November 14, 2007 - 11:09 PMWell, if it wasn't for tribe the Idaho Crew and the CA crew would never have connected. It is really hard for all us to have face to face conversations so Tribe (or internet) is pretty much the only way for us to judge camp energy and vibe. Keep posting, keep going! -

Re: tribe?
Thu, November 15, 2007 - 3:24 PMI've been wondering the same thing Gina Bina
it seems people are still using it.
I just joined Facebook and I have no idea why. It's of course a 2 way street in that we don't post cause no one is really talking.
and no one is really talking because people are posting much to talk about.
Except, of course, on the snarky Burning Man Tribe. People post there a lot, but there is a lot of people just waiting around to jump on someone's throat and call each other names or post long rants on the intersubjectivity of the meaning of words. Tiresome! -
