This weekend there's lots of lovely options, if it pleases you, got the whole holiday weekend laid out for ya...

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

This Friday, February 15th.

Opel presents The Rogue Element (Exeptional Records, UK) International Breaks Award "Best Producer" 2006.

Now that you got your lovey-dovey out of the way, let's rock out, with the exceptionally on-the-money talent that is the Rogue Element. He's been called the 'great white hope' of breakbeat for the fresh infusion of productions he continues to bring out. We think he is among the BEST offering in the world right now for the sound we like. He has put out monster track after monster track, both in breaks, tech funk and more recently dirty electro. Guaranteed to bring down the house, not to be missed.

Playing alongside Syd Gris (Opel / Opulent Temple), Ernie Trevino (Space Cowboys), Hoj (Opel / djhoj.com), Dex Stakker (Opel / Pronoia), Smoove (djsmoove.net) & Robb Green (Shameless).

At Mighty 119 Utah St. @ 15th. 10pm-4am. Get on the $10 pre-sale on sale now: Will be $20 on the door. Save yourself some money for chocolates. ; )
more info

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Saturday, February 16th. DJ GIG:

I play at the Kinky Salon Sweethearts party at Xenodrome. These peeps know how to throw a unique and colorful spectacle of a party. I play at 1:00am. 10pm till 3am. At XENODROME 1320 Potrero Avenue (@ 25th) Lots more info and link to pre-sales HERE : www.kinkysalon.com

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

You're not done yet, because Sunday, February 17th.

Opel & Spundae present Markus Schultz (Armada).

Ending the weekend on a melodic note sounds proper to me. The seminal taste maker of brooding bassy driving progressive trance sans cheese comes into town for the holiday weekend for a special one off at Mighty. Joined by Syd Gris (Opel / Opulent Temple), Taj (djtaj.com), Dirtyhertz(myspace.com/dirtyhertz), Nathan Vain (Opulent Temple), Vinkalmann (Opulent Temple), and Kevin Knapp (cRuX). 10pm-4am.

Don't forget the DJ Dan Opulent Temple benefit next Saturday, February 23rd.

And of course the Opel 6 Year Anniversary Event on Saturday, March 22nd with the Dream Team of Tech Funk: Meat Katie, Lee Coombs, and Dylan Rhymes all performing together. YOWZA.

With Love, Syd

Directed by Carolena Nerricio, Fat Chance has it's influence spread all over the world. There is a wonderful resource center here in San Francisco, be sure to check them out and see the amazing array of tribal jewelry and everything you could possibly every need or want as a bellydancer. Classes are provided, and performance opportunities in student troupes are available as well! Check out their website at www.fcbd.com

Today's show is only a duo, featuring Sandi and Wendy, but they usually perform in large groups of dancers, most of the time in improvisational style, yet because the dancers are so well versed in the art of technique, they are all perfectly syncipated and unified, and its one of the most electric, organic creations, all ingrained in the roots of bellydance, flamenco, Indian, gypsy, and other worldy dance styles.

FROM THE END IN LONDON, TO DC10 IN IBIZA : DESTINATION MIGHTY, SF

San Francisco, CA – August 17, 2007 -- Residents of London’s famed THE END and Ibiza’s renown Superfreq parties are coming to San Francisco. Mighty and Non-Fat present to you “The Superfreq Express” featuring the former member of The Shamen and “Tech House” originator/catalyst, MR.C; his protégé and esteemed producer, Adultnapper (Francis Harris); and the next big thing in Electro House – Dollz At Play. Featuring a feast of cosmopolitan, techno-electro, acid, minimal house and techno beats from legends and prodigies– this is a show San Francisco will never forget.

For over 5 years now, the Superfreq nights have been one of the best underground parties around the world continually challenging eclectic electro, house and minimal techno sounds. They currently run every Sunday at The End, as well as select North American dates with Made Event in New York & Miami with a new quarterly residency at Avalon Hollywood in Los Angeles. After three fantastic seasons in Ibiza, the party successfully migrated from club Underground to the legendary DC 10 last year and the mayhem is now fully underway every Wednesday this summer. In 2005, Superfreq Records was established with partner Luke vB and currently the label is establishing a firm foothold in the world of cutting edge electronic dance music while still retaining a serious element of fun inherent in the Superfreq mantra. On the production front Mr. C has teamed up with Brooklyn’s emerging talent the nefarious Adultnapper, under the guise of the Sycophant Slags.

A true pioneer of dance music Mr. C scaled pop culture heights with the psychedelic-influenced techno-rave act The Shamen in the 1990s as pioneers of the rock/dance crossover and harbingers of today’s scene. His devotion to underground dance music and ascension as tech-house doyen and co-owner of London’s popular The End nightclub has kept Mr. C at the top of his game and a mainstay of the global techno scene. "I phoned round the main movers and groovers in the tech-house scene and said, 'Look, if we all start using this word to create a genre for ourselves, the press can jump on it. All of a sudden we're going to be seen as the leaders of this music.' And it worked.” His commitment to experimentation and credibility in setting the standards for sophistication in all sub-genres of dance music has earned him world-wide prestige as he endeavors to take the sounds of the underground to new and more accessible heights.

Relying primarily on the ancient art of mixing two records, Francis Harris’s precision skills and thoughtful programming have earned him a reputation as DJ equal to his regard as producer an uncommon distinction. Adultnapper tracks have since appeared on some of the world‘s most esteemed labels Steve Bug’s Audiomatique, Frank Lorber‘s Nummer, Mr. C’s Superfreq, Mule Electronic, Dirt Crew, etc. and have been hotly tipped by elite Djs Loco Dice, Danny Tenaglia, Craig Richards, Sven Vath, Laurent Garnier, Sasha, Monika Kruse, Steve Lawler, Danny Howells, etc. thus firmly establishing Harris as one rare purveyor who steadfastly challenges the conventional wisdom and accepted shortcuts of post modern electronic music. On the decks, Harris intricately weaves divergent strains into a thick, pumping groove that subtly rises and falls, drawing the crowd ever deeper within his emotion-laden, melodic journey. Circo Loco at DC10, Ibiza, Cielo in NY, The End, Mulletover in London, Weekend in Berlin, Pawn Shop in Miami, Avalon in LA, are just a few of the world’s discerning floors that have been graced by Adultnapper and been left clamoring for more.

Dollz at Play are a new concept in dance music & with their punky, rocky style are the new generation of Electro-House. If you haven't heard of the Dollz At Play by now then you've been hiding under a rock for the last couple of years. The Dollz continue their proliferation of the dance music world in their own unique style by completely capturing the imagination of the unsuspecting masses.
On top of holding down their residencies at Superfreq at The End in London on Sundays & DC10 Ibiza on Wednesdays the Dollz At Play have been ultra busy jet setting around the world to the far flung reaches of the planet, playing their own take on modern electronic dance music. Since their rise & rise, the Dollz At Play have been picked up by some of the best DJ agencies in the world including www.wildebookings.com worldwide, www.itb.co.uk for the UK & naomismart@gmail.com in Mexico. They've become a sensation not only in the UK where the Dollz are based but also in Germany & France. Not only do the Dollz have great musical taste & technical ability but they are also uber-stylish, often raising the bar with fashion related to music. Having graced the front cover of DJ Mag and conquered gigs most DJs only dream of, Dollz at Play are giving new meaning to “revolution”.

Mighty is opening the flood gates to a minimal-techno-acid-house revolution that will surely change how San Francisco parties – and their bringing the people who created, make, sustain and operate the infamous DC10 and The End to make it happen.

We can start to feel it in the horizon. The far off starts to become tangible. Intimations of dusty peak experience. For us, that means a lot has to happen to move from Vision to Reality. We're doing 2 years worth of projects in one summer. Elevating what a communal musical experience can be - both figuratively and literally. When you see you will understand. To go over the top, as always, is a community effort.

In that spirit, we ask for the support of the community one last time on the late night front so we can create the greatest possible playground for you in Black Rock City. Our last 2 fundraisers fell on weekends with too much going on to do really well. We hope you can rally with us this Saturday. We promise you won't be disappointed in the investment...

Its because of you and all the work with Opel that I have been blessed and fortunate to have the opportunity to create variety shows featuring bellydancers of all varieties, shapes and sizes. This has been an incredible gift and has been so amazing for me to bring these wonderful artist together and give this gift of dance to the greater dance community!

Thank you for your help in all the various ways, too many to mention and for encouraging me to continue to pursue my passion and supporting it in the overall vision for Opel and conscious dance music parties! Also for giving me a whole time slot at Opulent Temple just for the bellydance show, that is so epic!

At a time when we spend $12 billion dollars a month on war in Iraq, and we are totally obliterating any good chance of harmonious future relations with the Arab and Islamic world, I feel its more important than ever to purse this so that we can have some small sliver of inter cultural connectiveness, or a chance to communicate in this small way that not all Americans are fuck faces who want to bomb Arabic and culture to smitherinees. In actuality, there are many people who appreciate culture and spend a lot of time and energy to learn more about the region and the dancing technique!

And with this, its so powerful and important in my opinion to have this interconnected with Opel and the greater vision it holds!

So thanks again and thanks to all my friends and community for coming out to these events to witness Ansuya, one of the best bellydancers of all time (my .02).

If any of you have ever enjoyed yourselves at an Opel party, or danced the night away at Opulent Temple on the playa, I encourage you to consider volunteering.

This Saturday I get the headlinging slot at 1015. (1am-3am) main room.

After all my years clubbing there when I was first getting into the scene in the late 90's it is a treat for me even though obviously the crowd and club has changed a lot. Obviously you know the sound in the main room is amazing and some of my peeps are going so you'll have a safety zone of a posse to hang with!

I hope you'll consider braving a Saturday night there and hear my take on quality progressive trance (which I rarely play anymore but still enjoy.)

I have 20 guest list spots before 12M, and unlimited before 11:00pm. Please Tribe or e mail me to get on the before 12M list, first come first served.

To hear a taste of the music I'll be playing, I posted a new mix last night via You Send it.

Go here: http://download.yousendit.com/E3F27AAE2E8DD461

and download it. It will take a little while, would love to hear what you think.

Please note that there is a brief recording glitch 40 minutes in where it cuts out briefly 2-3 times. It's relatively minor but a little abrupt if you're blasting it. : )

It was 2:30 in the morning when I was recording and I really didn't want to start from scratch...
This week-I am proud to announce the 3rd annual Dream On benefit supporting City of Dreams. I'm sure you've heard me run off at the mouth about it before-but we really need your support. I am absolutely onboard with everyone's vision out there for Burning Man and the benefits that accompany that event-I have certainly donated my time DJ'ing and dancing at many a Burning Man Fundraiser.

This benefit goes a bit deeper in its reach to OUR community here in SF-beyond white middle-class SF-to those kids in our inner city neighborhoods who really need it and who really want and need to leave their neighborhoods on the weekends and experience new and exciting things that they ordinarily may not have the opportunity to.

We are a grassroots org that depend on your support to survive. Details are below-If you donate here-you get in free: http://www.firstgiving.org/dream_on or else you can donate at the door ANY/ALL donations are welcome...
SUPPORT YOUR COMMUNITY. I hope you can git on down with us this weekend. Your donations and support help us sustain as an organization AND a community. For those of you who aren't familiar-please check out www.city-of-dreams.org Please check out the gallery there so you can get a visual of what we've been up to this year.
